2026 Audition Excerpts
Please note:
UPDATE 3/10/25 – The Trombone excerpts document had a mistake – excerpt 3b was the same as excerpt 3a – this has now been fixed; please make sure you download the latest version.
There is no separate audition for piano/keyboard – as there is only a part in one piece in the programme, we are hoping this can be played by a member of the orchestra who has been accepted on another instrument. If you would like to be considered for the piano part, please make sure that you include piano as a second instrument/other orchestral instrument and state your playing standard and that you would be interested in playing for NZSSSO. You do not need to submit a separate application or a solo piece, or pay another fee.
As saxophones are only needed for one piece in the programme, we are hoping to fill these parts with members of the orchestra who have been accepted on another instrument. If you play saxophone as well as your main instrument, please submit the saxophone extracts in addition to your primary instrument in order to be considered for these parts. You do not need to submit a separate application or a solo piece, or pay another fee.
