NZSSSO - New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra

Rehearsals for the National Orchestral Course for Secondary Students will be held at Burnside High School, Christchurch

The Orchestral Course offers young students the opportunity to receive quality tuition on selected works from professional conductors, tutors and experienced orchestral performers.
The NZSSSO aims to
*bring the best Secondary School music instrumentalists together.
*develop excellence with an auditioned orchestra
*provide professional music mentors, conductors, tutors, management and soloists
*opportunity for young NZ Composers to present their works
*opportunity to perform NZ compositions.
*full orchestral rehearsals and performances in professional venues
*time for fun social activities so you can meet new musical friends.

Details of the works chosen for 2010 will be given to the successful applicants but the programme will include a new Jazz Double Bass Concerto written & performed by young Christchurch Composer, Michael Bell

Application can now be done on line and emailed to Course Organiser or posted as before.
Please complete all the details as required on application form.
Please also note your orchestral teacher is required to estimate your current level of performance.
NEW AUDITION DETAILS:
Please note the new requirements for auditions We require a CD or DVD recorded audition of one own selection piece and the extract from one of the set works. Details and copies of the required audition extracts can be found on the NZSSSO new web site www.nzssso.com
The application form is also available on the web site. If applicants are unable to access the audition pieces from the website please contact the Course Organiser for copies to be sent.
The recording must be clearly named with the name & address of the applicant. These will be returned to you at the conclusion of the course.
Selection is done on the basis of your recorded audition. Each audition is listened to by a panel drawn from the Christchurch Itinerant Music Teachers. Whilst care is taken with the audition process, the Course Organisers decision is final.
