2027 Audition Excerpts
Please note:
IMPORTANT VIOLIN EXCERPT INFORMATION PLEASE READ 12th September: Our attention has been drawn to a mistake in one of the violin excerpts (the mistake is in the part). In Excerpt 5, the note on the third quaver beat of the second bar of Figure 52 should be an Ab rather than an A natural. An annotation has been added to the document. Please play the amended note – however, we will not penalise candidates who play an A natural in their audition, as they may have worked from the original version of the excerpt document. Addenda 11th & 12th September; two more wrong notes have been marked: In Excerpt 3, the last note of the second bar before Figure 8 should be a G rather than an F#. The incorrect time signature at the start has also been removed. In Excerpt 6, the last note of bar 4 should be an A (a 3rd lower) rather than a C. Audition allowances as for Excerpt 5.
3rd September: Viola excerpts have been corrected (removal of rogue white rectangle and incorrect tempo indication on Excerpt 4).
We are looking for one player to play piano in the Rachmaninov and keyboard (various settings) in the Cowan.
We are looking for one player to play alto saxophone in the Rachmaninov and tenor/baritone saxophones in the Cowan. This could potentially be combined with a clarinet or other woodwind position, as it is only in one part of the Symphonic Dances. If you wish to submit the saxophone excerpts in addition to another instrument audition, you do NOT need to submit a separate application or solo piece, or pay an extra fee. If you are ONLY applying for saxophone, you will need to submit a solo piece and pay the fee. Details of this are in the Saxophone document below.
